Notes on the Goodness of God in Answering Prayer

Listen to podcast audio:

It can be challenging when our prayers seem ungranted, unanswered or unheard. The enemy often comes with accusations that cause us to doubt God’s goodness, faithfulness, and love for us. Gary Wilkerson shares biblical insights into what we can do while we are waiting for God to answer our prayers.

Key Points from the Podcast

  • It is hard when our prayers are ungranted—when God says no to our request.

  • Unanswered prayers—when we don’t yet have an answer to our request—can be more challenging than ungranted prayers.

  • The most difficult of all can be when we feel our prayers are unheard.

  • Your doubts about God’s response, or lack of response, to your prayers often come from Satan’s accusations against God’s goodness.

  • Very rarely is there an accusation against God’s power, rather it is often against God’s goodness, love, and care for his children.

  • If you take Satan’s accusations and turn them back on him, then you start to see where God has been good to you.

  • While waiting for your prayers to be answered, God may be asking you to be the answer to that prayer for others.

  • As we abide in Christ our desires, thoughts, and prayers will align with God’s heart and will.

  • When it seems like our prayers are not being answered, in our impatience we can hastily complain against God and accuse him of not being good and faithful.

  • When you are waiting for God to answer your prayers set your heart, mind, and mouth on thanking him for his goodness and faithfulness.

  • God’s goodness is so great and his ability to grant our requests so vast that we are often asking far below how he wants to answer our prayers.
